TANNER, Harold L., Lt. Col. Ret., age 84 of Centerville, OH passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. Harold was born July 12, 1929 in Middletown, OH to Roy C. and Flora Meyer Tanner. He was preceded in death by parents Roy and Flora Tanner, his sister Esther Newcomb, and wife Shirley Tanner. He is survived by his daughters, Andrea Tanner of Lawrenceburg , IN, and Linda Shea of Centerville, OH; grandchildren, Patrick Shea (Jane) Columbus, OH, Kevin Shea (Cassandra), Dayton, OH, and Christopher Shea Seattle, WA; and great- grandchildren, Kate, Clara, Parker, and Callie. He is also survived by former wife of 29 years Hilde Tanner Yeager. Harold enlisted in the Army as a Private, and attended Officer’s Candidate School. He retired from Active Duty in 1973, but remained on Active Duty Reserve for a number of years after his Retirement. While in the Army he served in Korea and Viet Nam, and held numerous Command Posts through - out his career. He obtained a BS in Business Administration from Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas and a Master’s Degree from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN. Following his Military Career he held positions as a consultant specializing in productivity enhancement, and held numerous sales positions. Harold resided in the Sarasota Bradenton, FL area from 1996 through 2007 and enjoyed the warmer winter months. While in Florida he served as a volunteer reading mentor in the elementary school close to where he lived. Harold was an avid coin and stamp collector for many years and loved to travel. He loved to read and enjoyed music of all kinds, but especially country music.
