Giribala “Giri” Sheth passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. Giribala was a beloved wife to Kaushik Sheth, a nurturing mother to Srujal and Sunit Sheth, a caring mother-in-law to Todd Sample and Trushita Sheth, a doting grandmother to Meera Sample, Spencer Talentino, Nikhil Sample, Ved Sheth, and a loving sister to Naresh Desai, Manoj Desai, Daxa Majmudar, Yatin Desai, and Amul Desai.
Giribala was born in Gujarat, India in 1948. Known affectionately as "Tapa Sister," she worked as a Gujarati language teacher. For the sake of her family's future, Giribala led her family to immigrate to the United States in 1980. She worked tirelessly in multiple jobs to provide for her loved ones. Giribala worked as a nurse's aide in a nursing home where she treated those under her care with empathy and kindness.
Giribala was a phenomenal cook, seamstress, jewelry designer and beloved “Moti” to her grandchildren and “Tapa Ba” to her grand nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing cards (winning almost every game) with her friends and family. Giri was an active member of the Pushtimarg Hindu community. She loved to sing and play shlokas on her harmonium.
In 2021, Giribala was diagnosed with a rare and terminal form of brain cancer. Despite this formidable challenge, her physical, mental, and emotional strength remained unyielding. One of her most heartfelt victories was being able to attend her granddaughter’s wedding, where she sang, danced, and her positive energy and radiant love left an indelible mark.
As we remember Giribala, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led, marked by kindness and a profound love for others. A memorial service will be held in her honor on June 10 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton - Xenia Road, Beavercreek.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the following charities:
