Geraldine Louise Harness (Lyons) was born on June 4, 1937 to Jeramiah and Bernice Lyons in Dayton, Ohio. She passed away on July 18, 2024 in Fernandina Beach, Florida on Amelia Island. She is survived by her husband William D. Harness, her three children Teresa (Tess) Sherwood, William (Willy) M. Harness (wife Laura), Tammy Oldham (husband David). Six grandchildren, Michelle, AJ, Ashley, Theresa, Michael, and Kyle. And 13 great-grandchildren.
Gerry raised her children in Vandalia, Ohio. She retired from the University of Dayton. Then they moved to Fayetteville, Ohio. She was active in the Women’s Club and she volunteered at the Hope Emergency Program. Her favorite activity with Hope was gathering their Christmas presents year-round.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 East 2nd St., Dayton, Ohio. The viewing will begin at 9 am with a Mass to follow at 10 am. She will be buried at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, 1639 E. Lytle Five Points Rd, Centerville, Ohio.
Following the burial, family and friends are invited to join us at Marion's Piazza, 8991 Kingsridge Dr., Dayton, Ohio. It’s the one by the Dayton Mall.
Gerry asked that everyone wear their favorite color to the service.
