CAVANAUGH, George T., age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 7, 2018. George was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 15, 1937, to R. Hayes and Minnie (Schulz) Cavanaugh. He was a graduate of Oakwood High School and the Cincinnati Academy of Commercial Art. He was employed for several years at Wright-Patterson AFB under contract with Ohio State University, and later employed with and retired from the Charles F. Kettering Foundation. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother Richard, brother-in-law William Schreck, and his father and mother-in-law Raymond and Miriam (Benauer) Tritch. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Linda (Tritch) Cavanaugh, daughter Tracy (Biggs), son-in-law Douglas Biggs, grandaughter Alexandra and grandson Jack Winston, sister Joanne (Cavanaugh) Schreck, brother-in-law Paul Tritch, sister-in-law Sylvia (Geyer) Tritch, and brother-in-law David Tritch, sister-in-law Linda (Stevens) Tritch, and numerous nieces and nephews. George was someone who always looked for the positive, always had a smile, always wanted to help when you needed it (except for carpentry), he loved family, and he loved, loved to make someone laugh. He was genuine. He was friendly with all, outgoing, loved all sports, but especially golf, football, the Indy 500, NASCAR, and he loved animals. The two German Shepherds, Ralph and Annie, are waiting for him to come play; however the two kitties, Sophie and Abby are missing him terribly, as am I. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, followed by a Memorial Service, then departure to Dayton Memorial Park for burial. Contributions may be made to SISCA or the Greater Dayton Humane Society. Condolences can be expressed to the family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
