Schulz, Gene E., age 66, of Beavercreek, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Oak Hill, WV, while attending the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree. He was born in Dayton, OH on October 29, 1946 to Earl V. and Evelyn E. (Briggs) Schulz, who preceded him in death. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Shirley M. (Keaton) Schulz, of Beavercreek; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Johnny Stewart, of Germany; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jenny Schulz, of Dayton; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Jim Fledderjohn, of Cicero, IN, Bonnie and Jeff Vore, of Dakota Dunes, SD, Merry and Jim Crews, of Indianapolis, IN; 5 grandchildren, Seamus, Owen and Evelyn Stewart, Rosemary Blevins and Emma Mihalus; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Shirley Keaton, of Dayton. He is also survived by the Keaton family, countless other relatives and friends. Gene graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1964 and Wright State University in 1973. He was the co-owner of C.E. Schulz and Son, Inc. Plumbing and retired from Osterfeld Champion Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A lifelong history enthusiast, Gene was involved in many organizations including serving as President of the Society of the Northwest Long Hunters, Discovery Expedition St. Charles (DESC) and was a long time participator at the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon. He was also a volunteer with the Lewis and Clark Trust, Inc. and a former Boy Scout Leader. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
