Fred R. Wiggers

Fred Wiggers, age 77 of Centerville passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was born in Cincinnati, son of the late Dr. Russell and Dorothy Wiggers. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Linda Wiggers (Irons); sons Tyler (Monica) Wiggers and Nathan (Kristen) Wiggers; grandchildren: Russell, Eleanor, Alexander, Anna Sophia, and Grant Wiggers; sister Zamie (Bill) Studt; and brother-in-law Ron (Gayle) Irons.

Fred has always had a passion for learning. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wilmington College before beginning a 10-year teaching career with the Dayton Public School District while earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Wright State University. The following 25 years were spent as an elementary counselor in the Kettering School District. Fred lived a full life in retirement by staying active in college Alumni organizations, playing golf, reading and traveling. Fred was a longtime member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, greeter, usher and member of many mission service projects such as Habitat for Humanity and the New Orleans disaster relief. Throughout his life he lived to help and serve others.

Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Family was his first priority. He was so proud that his sons have established families of their own and continue family traditions. He enjoyed attending each grandchild’s sporting events and school activities and was so proud of each of their achievements. Fred’s friends will remember him for his humor, integrity, energy, honesty and passion for life. He will be missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of his friends who have supported, prayed and loved him during this time of illness. The family would also like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who cared for him over the years and especially those at Miami Valley Hospital who have worked with Fred over the past few months. He was truly blessed to have such great love and care.

All are welcome to attend Fred’s Celebration of Life to be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Far Hills Ave. Visitation will be from 2-4PM, Service at 4PM and dinner immediately following in the CFC. Burial will take place at 11am on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church.
