Foley Parker of Kettering, OH, departed earth for heaven on December 10, 2017, at 92 years old, one day after his 73rd anniversary to his surviving wife, Freda (Cox) Parker, who nurtured, loved, and cared for him. He was born on May 24, 1925, in Laurel County, KY, to the late Lee and Bessie Parker. He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, and a very special granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Mercs. He is survived by daughters Willa (John) Mercs; Diana (Bill) Hunter; son, Timothy Parker; granddaughter, Michele Mercs; a dear family friend, John Hamler; and many nieces and nephews.
In his younger years he loved fox hunting and was a faithful supporter of the Cincinnati Reds. Later in life he became an avid Nascar fan. A quiet man of few words, he took great interest in caring for and landscaping his lawn.
Foley served his country in the Navy during WWII. He retired from GM Inland Division with thirty years of service.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 11:00 – 1:00 with funeral services to follow at 1:00 at Tobias Funeral Home at 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429,
with Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville, OH. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton.
