Gene served four years in the US Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He then worked for Globe Industries/TRW for 15 years, where he met the love of his life, Barb. In 1970, Gene ventured into the wholesale food business with his business partner, Milton James Isaacson. They bought Frey Foods, later renaming it Food Services of Dayton, and was there until he retired in 1996.
Gene and Barbara were founding members of Community Baptist Church in Beavercreek, where he served as a Deacon for many years. His faith and trust in God is what kept him going in this life. He had a great sense of humor and made the best of every situation that came his way. He always said “Once you turn 90, every day that you wake up is a bonus!”
The family would like to thank Dr. Karl Rose for his many years of caring for Gene, as well as Dr. Karabatak and Dr. Yanes. Special thanks to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton as well as the staff of Kettering Medical Center Main Campus, especially Dr. Eric da Costa Oliveira for his caring nature.
