Gene served in the United States Army in Alaska during the Korean War. He married Betty Jo Walker on July 23, 1955. They had 31 wonderful years together until her passing in October of 1986. He worked at Dayton Press for 30 years and retired from Gordon Supply. Gene was a parishioner at St Helen’s Church since 1962. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity offering his experience in woodworking. Gene enjoyed bowling and was proud of his 300 game. He also enjoyed playing euchre.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by his son, David; three brothers Walter, Richard, and Ralph, two sisters Virginia and Charlotte. Survived by sons Richard Arnold, Jerry Arnold and his wife, Beth; daughter, Brenda Ely and her husband Kurt; six grandchildren, Grant Ely and his wife Amanda, Brandon Ely and his wife Kelsey, Kyle Arnold, Zach Arnold and his wife, Tabitha, Nate Arnold and Lucas Arnold; seven great-grandchildren, Harrison Ely, Jackson Ely, Savannah Ely, McKenna Ely, Charlotte Ely, Ezekiel Arnold and Oliver Arnold.
