Elizabeth K. Thaman was born October 25, 1922 in Wapakoneta to Alvina and Hermann Kellermeyer. Her father died three days before Elizabeth was born. Shortly thereafter, her mother, grandmother and Elizabeth moved to Dayton.
Elizabeth could be described as: determined, sincere, tenacious, stubborn, pretty, stylish, wise, creative, and generous to the less fortunate. But most of all she was a very loving and protective mother to her two children. In later years she was always smiling and offering a kiss and “I love you” for everyone she met.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Bob (Sue) and her daughter, Carolyn (Phil). Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death. There are many family members and friends who held a special place in her heart.
A sincere “thank you” to all of the wonderful and dedicated people at Brookdale of Oakwood, especially the caregivers on the third floor, and Acclaim Hospice. Mom used to tell the staff at Brookdale that she loved them and she really did. They all became members of her family.
Liz started working at the age of 18 in the office at Delco Products during WW2. After she was married, Liz left the working world to raise her family. In her later 50’s she decided to return to work and was employed by the Montgomery County Treasurer and Auditor offices until she finally retired at the age of 86 (with much prodding from her children). She treasured the friendships of the people at the County.
In the end, Mom was surrounded by Bobby and Carolyn through the night and into morning. They both held her hands and watched over her as she quietly left this world at 8:25AM on July 30.
We loved our Mom so very, very much and will miss her greatly.
If you so desire, a donation in the memory of our Mom can be made to your favorite charity.
