Agnew (Thelen), Elizabeth L., age 90, of St. Leonard’s in Centerville, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and infant son, James Michael. She is survived by 1 daughter Sheryl & Doug Graves, 3 sons Jeff & Laurie Agnew, Tom & Debbie Agnew, and John & Christine Agnew. Betty has 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Betty was born May 6, 1925 to Elmer and Gwendolyn Thelen in Lafayette, Indiana and graduated from St. Francis High School. She worked at the ALCOA aluminum plant in Lafayette during World War II. She met Bob in Lafayette and they married in 1949 and moved to Dayton, Ohio. She worked as a civilian employee at Wright Field in the early 1950s until the birth of their daughter. Betty was a charter member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Social Action Committee, Church Women United, and the Booster Club. She was employed as a church secretary for over 25 years at St. Luke’s and Mary Help of Christians in Fairborn, and for 10 years as a procurator at St. Brigid’s in Xenia. She also worked at Beavercreek Florist. In recent years she was a volunteer in the Health Care Center at St. Leonard’s. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the two most important things in her life were her family and her church. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at St. Leonard’s Church Chapel Centerville, 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
