Edward Warren Jones, age 92, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, with his devoted wife and family by his side. Ed was born on June 17, 1931, to the late Dennis Jones and Hazel (Wellman) Jones. He was one of five children. On February 19, 1955, he married his sweetheart, Cornelia Ann (Crouse) Jones. Ed is survived by his wife and four children: Warren Jones and wife, Theresa, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lauren Arcaro and husband, Edward Robert, of Tampa, Florida, Brian Jones of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Darren Jones of Dayton, Ohio, along with multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Richard and Thomas Jones, sisters, Patricia Hazen and Janet Toedtman, and his daughter, Leslie Barnett.
Ed grew up in Dayton, Ohio. After high school, he attended Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, where he pole vaulted on an athletic scholarship. It was on the campus that he would meet his beautiful bride, Cornelia Ann “Connie” Crouse of Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating, Ed and Connie were married and moved to Virginia where he served in the U.S. Army. Upon being honorably discharged, he moved to Dayton, Ohio, where he was employed by Belmont High School and would successfully coach multiple state championship athletic teams, teach, and serve as athletic director before retiring. Later Ed would obtain his Masters Degree in Education from Miami University of Oxford.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, building and renovating homes, furniture, and even bicycles he would find thrown away on the side of the road. He loved sports, and, most of all, he loved spending time at the family’s farm in southern Indiana.
Ed was a quiet and faithful servant of the Lord. He was always patient, kind and willing to help someone in need. Ed faithfully attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kettering, Ohio, for over 60 years. He also attended Solid Rock Church of Ann Arbor when visiting family.
A Memorial Service for family and close friends will take place at Solid Rock Church of Ann Arbor on May 16 at 11 a.m. Reverend Kyle Turner will officiate.
