Van Oss, Dorothy Rose, age 97, a longtime resident of Beavercreek passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1916 in Dayton, OH the daughter of Joseph J. and Agatha T. (Burgmeier) Zimmer, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Collette Zimmer, her sister, Betty Catanzaro and her sister-in-law, Agnes Zimmer. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Russell E. Van Oss; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Harold Orr, of Beavercreek; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Ardyce Van Oss, of Beavercreek, David and Carol Van Oss, of Austin, TX, Joseph and Peggy Van Oss, of Bellbrook, Stephen and Jodi Van Oss, of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Marianna and Donald Van Oss, of Beavercreek; three brothers and sisters-in-law, J. Robert Zimmer, of Kettering, James and Joyce Zimmer, of FL, John and Peggy Zimmer, of MO; 11 grandchildren, T.R. Van Oss, Amy (Sam) Learned, Sara (Philip) Barber, Jessie (Todd) Van Haaren, Shelby Van Oss, Kelsey Van Oss, Skyler Van Oss, Branden Van Oss, Ryan Van Oss, Trenton Van Oss, Taylor Van Oss; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Simon, Abby and Liam Learned and many other loving relatives and friends. She was a charter and active member of St. Luke Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a Religious Education Teacher. Dorothy was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and was a founding member of the Leisure Club. She was a pre school teacher at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church Day Care and was a member of the Ohio Child Conservation League. Prayers will be said at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. from St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 North Fairfield Road with Father Terry Schneider, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013.
