VERMILLION, Donald Alan passed away on July 27, 2018 in Kettering, Ohio. He was 68. Mr. Vermillion was born on November 18, 1949 in Lima, Ohio, to his parents, Elwood Burdette and Mary Eleanor Vermillion. He graduated from Miami University with a degree in political science. He went on to complete his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Kansas University. After working in local government for 30 years, including the roles of Miamisburg City Manager and Montgomery County Administrator, he joined the University of Dayton as a professor in the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community and Political Science. He was committed to inspiring the next generation of community leaders. A loving husband, father, son and brother, Mr. Vermillion is survived by his wife Laima Rastikis of Kettering, Ohio; his son Christopher Vermillion of Kettering, Ohio; his daughter Stephanie Vermillion of Hoboken, New Jersey; his mother Mary Eleanor Vermillion of Lima, Ohio; and sister, Jan Schuster of Springboro, Ohio. The life of Donald Vermillion will be celebrated with a gathering of friends at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Dayton, OH 45429, Monday July 30, 2018, from 9 to 11 a.m. It will be immediately followed by a Memorial Mass to celebrate Don's life at 12 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave. Kettering, OH 45429.
