Deborah L. Mocas (Pauley), born November 1, 1953, of Waynesville, Ohio, passed into the hands of God on May 14, 2021, after a twenty-five year battle with the disease Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency Disorder. Debi is survived by her husband of forty-five years, James Mocas Jr. She is also survived by her mother Irene Pauley; sisters, Rebecca (William) Hawker and Judith (David) Ramirez; children, Amanda Mocas Farris, Phillip Mocas, Elizabeth (David) Siler, Gillian (William) Nance, John-Mark (Katherine) Mocas, and Svetlana Mocas; grandchildren, Brandon, Zoe, Abbey, Logan, R.J., Eva, Caleb, Marissa, Isaiah, Isaac, Ian, Miranda, and Tristan; in-laws, Mary Mocas (Marv Tseu), Sarah Mocas, Robert (Heidi) Mocas; and nephews and nieces, Jessica, Zachary, Rocelle, and Colin. She is also remembered by many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her father Reverend Ron Pauley.
Debi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others, working as a nurse's aide at St. Leonard’s Nursing Home for years, as a mail clerk at Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home, as a volunteer at a battered women’s shelter, as a deacon at her church, and as an adult special needs Sunday school teacher. Debi was a very talented musician playing both the guitar and the mandolin in her church's worship band. She loved camping and boating, and spent several decades being a dedicated soccer mom and mamaw. Debi was a graduate of Beavercreek High School and longtime member of Mt. Zion Church.
The family will receive friends at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, located at 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road on Thursday May 20th from 5-7, with a service to follow from 7-7:30. Pastor Doug McCoy will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Debi’s name to the “Alpha-1 Foundation” to further research.
