Penrod, David Logan, age 92, of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Logan County, Kentucky on June 22, 1925, the son of Bernice B. and Essie Goldie (Baugh) Penrod, who preceded him in death. David was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcelle (Kennon) Penrod, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his son, David James Frederick Penrod; his long time companion, Roberta Shiverdecker; a sister-in-law, Patsy Gordon; nieces and nephews, Mark Gordon, Lisa Gordon, Kim Garrison, Jim Kennon, Susan (Kennon) Jackson and Wayne Penrod; special friends, Christopher Law and Ejgil Brandborg. David is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He was a very active business owner and philanthropist, was a stock broker with Merrill Lynch, and had been associated with Prudential and Esco Electronics. David was a member of Kirkmont Presbyterian Church in Beavercreek and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo, Florida. He was a veteran of WW II having proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was a survivor of both Iwo Jima and Saipan. He was also a member of VFW Post 8312 and American Legion Post 763. David was an active member of many organizations including the Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd Degree Mason (Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite), Walnut Grove Country Club, Beavercreek Senior Center, S.A.R.(Sons of the American Revolution), and the Agonis Club. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Kirkmont Presbyterian Church, 3377 Shakertown Road,Beavercreek with Reverend B.J. Newman officiating and assisted by Utsey Shelton. The family will receive visitors from 5:30- 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road with a V.F.W. Honor service at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Final resting place will be in Dayton National Cemetery.
