David Wayne Goe, 70, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away on April 8, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton. He had a peaceful passing; he was embraced by love and surrounded by family, friends, and his dog, Sheba. David was a descendant of frontiersman Daniel Boone. He was born in Pineville, Kentucky on February 11, 1955, to George McDonald Goe and Lydia Jane Elam Goe.
David graduated from Lone Jack High School in 1973, received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and received his master’s degree in human resource management from Golden Gate University.
David dedicated 30 years of his life to the United States Air Force (USAF). He enlisted in the USAF in May 1974 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in May 2004. David proudly served in the Gulf War for the liberation of Kuwait and then defended yet another nation from tyranny as the commander of the weather detachment in Seoul, Korea. While in Okinawa, Japan, David was the only weather officer to go typhoon-chasing in an F-15. He was often the liaison representing his department because of his down-to-earth personality, his knowledge of weather and people, and the humorous and understandable way he articulated weather information. He continued to support the Air Force and our nation after his service as a support contractor at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 10 years. David always ended his prayers with, “Please protect the service men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families. Amen.”
David enjoyed life and was a stranger to no one. You could find him riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle around the United States, watching and following University of Kentucky basketball, learning about U.S. history, being the most loving and doting Papa to his two granddaughters, and walking his German Sheperd, Sheba, around the neighborhood.
David married his best friend, Dorothy Benavides Goe, on July 3, 1976, and they remained married for nearly 49 years until his passing. David is survived by his wife Dorothy Goe; daughters, Tuzanne Donnell and Rosa Cupp Goe; granddaughters, Raelyn Donnell and Scarlett Donnell; brothers, Kenneth R. Goe and James M. Goe; and sisters, Patricia Goe Dean and Virginia R. Sibert. He is preceded in death by his father, George McDonald Goe; mother, Lydia Jane Elam Goe; sister, Katherine Goe Muncy; and brothers Walker Donald Goe, Paul D. Goe, Robert C. Goe, and Wendell W. Goe.
Visitation will be at the Tobias Funeral Home at 3970 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:30 AM with a funeral service to follow. Graveside burial with full military honors will be at the Dayton National Cemetery immediately following the service. All are invited to a reception following the graveside service at The Woods Clubhouse at 2161 Hidden Woods Blvd, Beavercreek OH 45431.
