David A. Cox died peacefully on March 11, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 75. “Dave” is survived by his wife, Jean Peacock Cox, his brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Corinne Cox of Branson, MO; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Joe Bob Bledsoe of Pleasant Hill, OH; children, Rickie Anne Gee, Lisa-Jane Rushton, Richard Allen John Cox, David Michael Cox; stepchildren, Kelly Nguyen and Laurie Peacock; grandchildren, Merlin, Daniel, Jake, Barnabus, Meg, Elinore, Justin, David Andrew, Lily, Atticus and Bexley; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, John Noble Cox; his mother, Louise Slater Cox Arthur; his stepfather, Gilbert Arthur; and wife, Diane Faun Cox.Dave was born on July 24, 1940 in Marion, IN to his parents John and Louise Cox. He graduated from high school in Wayne Township, OH and joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Greenham Common in England. Upon his return to Wayne Township, he became a police officer--one of the first two--in 1964. He was later appointed as D.A.R.E. officer at Wayne High and retired from the Huber Heights Police Department in 1997 after 33 years of service.Dave loved fishing, volunteering at his church and was a friend to all. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tobias Funeral Home- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH. Public visitation is noon to 2:00 p.m. Pastor Tom Hanover will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dave's life.
