CLARK, Dan L. “In memory of a life so beautifully lived… a heart so deeply loved…” age 65 of Kettering, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to John V. and Helen M. (Berry) Clark. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Candy; his son Jeff; daughter Danielle Wilson and son-in-law Curtis Wilson; and grandsons Daniel and Alex, to whom he was known as “Big Pop”, brothers; Gary (Rhonda), Barry, Steve (Connie) and loving nieces and nephews. Following graduation from Centerville HS in 1969, Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1973 and entered federal service with the Air Force Audit Agency, Aeronautical Systems Division, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base OH. During that time Dan held multiple positions of increasing responsibility including Auditor, Audit Manager, Program Manager and Associate Director in both the Acquisition and Contracting divisions. In 1978, Dan left government service to pursue business interests that reflected his passion for the outdoors. Accordingly, he established the Four Seasons Marine in Harveysburg. Dan returned to the Air Force Audit Agency in 1990 where he received numerous performance awards and citations, including Outstanding Civilian Auditor of the Year and the Exemplary Civilian Service Award. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Air Force operations, the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, (Acquisition), who personally nominated Dan to attend the National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, the preeminent graduate school program for senior leaders in the Department of Defense located in Washington, D.C. He graduated in 2003 with a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy. Dan possessed an extraordinary mind, a quick wit, and a gentle heart. In addition to his love of boating and the great outdoors, Dan loved cooking for family and friends, was an avid supporter of visual and musical art forms. He will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who cared deeply for the welfare of friends, his adoring pets, devotion to country, and the love of God. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered for his selfless and kind-hearted nature to all. A special thank you to Dr. James Sabiers, Dr. Rebecca Paessun and their staff. A memorial service will be held on April 16, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, 138 W. First Street, Dayton OH. Visitation will be from 1-3pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 3-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be in made in Dan’s name to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
