SOMMERS, Christopher Alexander 29, of Centerville, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016. Born in Kettering, Ohio December 19, 1986. Attended Bellbrook and Centerville High Schools and St. James United Methodist Church. Christopher had recently been employed by Square One Salons in Centerville, Ohio where he had made many friends during his last years. Christopher is survived by his parents Erick V(Michael Cox)Sommers of Bellbrook, Ricki(Marc)Miller of Centerville, siblings Stephanie Sommers and Jacob Miller both of Centerville, grandparents; Lester Sommers, Nicki(Win)Sturgell, Terry(Pam)Slifer, and step-grandmother Hilda Miller, Uncles; Scott(Linda)Sommers and Timothy(Jennifer)Slifer, Aunt Holly(Ryan)McBride, great-grandparents, grandmother by heart Lisa Engle and a host of cousins. Christopher’s great love was his family, especially his sister Stephanie whom he adored more than words can describe and his brother Jacob whom he fell in love with the day he was born, as well as all things Disney. Given the opportunity he would have gladly made residence in Cinderella’s Castle but enjoyed staying at the Wilderness Lodge when he visited. Chris shared his Disney passion with most of those he touched and had even the toughest of men singing, “Let it Go”. Christopher has been set free from the pain of addiction. Those of us closest to him are forever grateful for the sobriety he enjoyed for the last year of his life. It was a time for new beginnings, a time to make new memories and to see the light of life back in his eyes. He was pursuing his talent as a writer to tell his story of addiction and recovery and his gratitude for the people, tools and resources that helped him live the last year of his life clean and sober. If his words helped only one person he would be especially pleased. Early Saturday morning Christopher’s addiction claimed one more gentle soul. Many people who loved him took to writing tributes on social media. He was described as always smiling, so handsome, vivacious and fun loving, heart of gold and always lights up a room. However, his dear friend Emily said it so well, “we honor all of your brightness that you brought into so many lives, despite all the darkness and pain you carried within you. May you finally feel the peace and highest love that you were always in search of while living in this world that at times can feel so full of hatred and fear. May your struggle and loss inspire those who also battle with addiction to make the positive changes to empower themselves with the knowledge of self-worthiness and self-love.” Christopher you were loved more than you can ever know and will never be forgotten. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel; where funeral service will be held 10:00AM Friday. “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heart aches, whatever you wish for you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true”. Cinderella.
