I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Chris since shortly after I moved To San Francisco 14 years ago. He and Peanut ( who we referred to as the President of Chris Green Inc.) visited the garden center that I work at. He was talented, kind and joyful to work with. He was a gardner who knew the joy and beauty of nature.I know he loved being back in Dayton... We often talked about how grateful we both were to know the beauty of both the Midwest and The Bay Area. I was devastated to hear this news today. But so grateful to have known him. Sending  wishes for peace to you and yours.

One never knows how his life may affect others through tangential connections.  I never knew Chris well, but I became friendly with him as he was one of the first people our mutual friend Lewis introduced me to upon my arrival in San Francisco when I moved there in 1990.  Chris subsequently recruited Lewis to fill in playing bass or for gigs in a couple of bands, one of which, Those Darn Accordions! later hired me to load speakers and to drive their van for a time.  When I met Chris, he was playing with two fellow Buckeyes and a Californian in a kind of neo-retro combo named Darke County (later Myself a Living Torch, then Jeff Bright and the Sunshine Boys).  They were stylish, smart and powerful at their best.  Chris had a magnetic presence and was a spark plug playing his big bass fiddle or Longhorn four-string.

The Chris I knew wasn't all sunshine, puppies and green thumbs (bad puns intended), but after having lost touch with him for many years, I am gratified to learn that he overcame his difficulties and I note his premature passing with dismayed surprise and sadness.  It is somewhat comforting to learn that his strength, his talent, creativity and sweetness are the attributes that came to characterize Chris once again after we'd parted ways.  I'll remember him as a strikingly handsome young man with big blue eyes whose musical ability, drive and passion for living took him to some spectacular places where he played some exceptional music.

Chris's openhearted and enthusiastic spirit has departed from us far too soon and although I was no more than a footnote in his life, I wanted to take this opportunity to offer my sincere sympathies and admiring recollections to his close friends and family.  Please accept my condolences and know that I mourn his premature loss and miss his joie de vivre, even after all these years.

Chris was a great musician, friend and roommate. I'll never forget the vintage toys he brought when he moved into the warehouse with me and Launce Rake. And remembering the set he and Mom played in our ridiculously large bathroom on Patterson Ave. So many good times and good shows back in the day. I'll be thinking of him on my next trip to the Dawg Pound this fall. Gone too soon.

I met Chris about 1.5 years ago in a class that we were taking together. I liked him immediately, as he was such a gentle, warm, inviting, and funny person. We were just really getting to know each other when he sent me the news of his illness, and, in the blink of an eye, he was gone. This is so unjust and heart-wrenching. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing to you all. May God comfort you.

I knew Chris since high school , and had a great time playing in a band with him in the late 70s , there wasn't a bad note out of Chris , in music or life ,  I saw his band in San Fran just before he he left calif , and it was the same Chris I knew many years before and when home in Ohio last year had a nice sit down chat in his new house , he will be greatly missed , and sad just knowing he's not with us .

I knew Chris for the last couple of years when he signed up for a class that I was teaching.  As others have said, he was a really good soul and a kind person that I had hoped to get to know better.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends on such a tragic loss.

My memories of Chris go back many years. I will never forget my days hanging out and working with the Green family in the Shepherd Rd "field" as we called it. Chris always had a smile on his face and he always made people feel welcome. Chris was such a gentle and happy soul - qualities that the world needs more of. He will be greatly missed.

This afternoon as Scott and I were talking in the driveway (we were out of town all weekend), your brother came over and delivered the sad news of your passing. Just a few weeks ago I saw you hard at work on the many gardens you've kept in perfect condition every summer. Your mom told us of your illness right about that time, and before anyone knew it you were gone. I didn't know you, just from the few short conversations we had. I know Scott enjoyed talking to you and we both admired the fruits of your hard work in your mom's gardens and the many impromptu visits from adorable Peanut and feisty Reggie. Our prayers are with you and your family tonight. Like my grandfather, your battle was short. It's a blessing and a tragedy rolled in one. I know you were loved greatly and will be missed. Chris and the band were a very important part of my life in those days. I was so saddened to hear of his illness and passing this week. Thanks to Jim Carter for keeping me informed. Chris was a wonderful man who always had a smile and a light hearted boyishness about him. Hence the name Troy Boy. He was a consummate musician and was loved by so many people. Chris Green was a roommate of mine and Lee Parks in the 1980s when we lived in the Front Street Annex warehouse by the river, near downtown. Chris was one of the nicest people I've ever met, and he could talk to anyone. We will miss him terribly.

Back in the '80s, Chris briefly dated a friend of mine. I was completely shocked to learn of his passing. I have really great memories of him ... especially the time he brought us a Christmas tree. He was a gift musician and a wonderfully genuine, funny guy.

We had many laughs together, I always enjoyed him and Peanut, I will miss our conversations.

I met Chris when he was 6 and I was 7 at Fairbrook School. For almost 50 years our lives intersected. Two things I want to thank Chris for. One, for talking his dad into hiring me to do lawn work. I sucked at it, but at least he let me try. Secondly, he was my rock in the Great San Francisco Migration Fiasco of the mid 1980s. I love and will miss you, buddy.
