MURPHY, Charlotte Ann nee Wilkening went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Bethany Lutheran Village surrounded by her devoted family. She was preceded in death by her beloved twin sister, Virginia, and her parents, Christian and Hazel Wilkening. She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Dr. John Murphy, Jr., and their five children – John (Susan) of Bellbrook; Kevin (Charlotte) of Scott Depot, W.Va.; Bradford (Tricia) of Kettering; Terrence of Fairborn, and Connie (Shauna) of Lyons, Col.; nine grandchildren – Megan, John, Justin, Shawn, Shannon, Katie, Molly, Stephen, and Brendan; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Charlotte was a very loving and energetic person who passionately served her family, her church, her community, and her country. She attended the University of Cincinnati after graduating from Stivers High School in Dayton. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Bellbrook Garden Club, and Bellbrook Historical Society. She served on the boards of the Greene County MRDD and the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and as president of the Grandview Hospital Auxiliary. She was Committee Chairwoman for the Greene County Republican Party and a delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention. Charlotte dearly loved spending time with family and friends, entertaining, cooking, traveling, fishing, and hunting artifacts. Her engaging laugh, sunny personality, and loving ways will be sorely missed by all.
