Byron R. Firsdon, of Washington Township, Ohio passed away on June 27th, 2012 after an extended illness, surrounded by his wife and children. He peacefully went to heaven where he joined his parents, nine brothers and sisters and his grandson, Brandon White. Byron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy I. Firsdon, and five children. Elizabeth Armstrong (Mitchell), James Firsdon (Lori), Barbara Baker , Jacqueline Williams (Gregory) and Shannon Holtgreive (Bernard), grandchildren Ashley White, Michelle, Erica, Scott, Alex and Leah Firsdon, Sean and Austin Baker, Samuel and Sarah Williams and Rachel, Gwyneth, Jack and William Holtgreive and two great granddaughters, Nataly and Isabella. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Firsdon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Known as Barney in his younger years, Byron was born on August 3rd, 1930 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was passionate about sports, which began at an early age as quarterback of his high school football team and point guard on the basketball team. He pursued his education at Bowling Green State University where he was an ROTC cadet. He graduated as a United States Air Force officer and went on to serve his country for 20 years. After retiring as a decorated officer in 1973, Byron was fortunate to have a second career that he equally loved as a builder and real estate developer. He was active in Ambucs, Dayton Home Builder’s Association and was a member of the Church of the Incarnation. He loved to play golf, travel the world and cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes. Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday July 1st from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Road, Dayton, Ohio 45429.
