Bruce Shiverdecker, age 74 of Union, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 24, 1949 to parents Frank and Jo-Ann (Kitchen) Shiverdecker who preceded him in death.

Bruce was a beloved teacher, coach, father, and grandfather. He started his teaching career at Jefferson High School then continued onto Dayton Job Corps. and then onto Trotwood-Madison High School from where he retired. His life has impacted so many young people in his 70+ years. He has influenced students, teachers, and athletes in baseball and hockey. There weren’t many hockey rinks in the tri-state area to which someone wouldn’t know him when he walked in. He started coaching his son in baseball and hockey and that continued through to his nephews and his grandsons. He also followed his daughter in her athletic quest for soccer and found a new love for cheer through his granddaughter. He had an avid love of music and was excited to see his grandson, Gunnar, pursue music.
Bruce was a member of Wilbur Wright Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2022. He coached at Trotwood, Jefferson, Wilbur Wright, Alter and numerous youth baseball leagues including NABL, Englewood Little League, Bullets, and Prospects. He coached numerous youth hockey organizations such as DAHA North, Dayton Blue Hawks, Dayton Bombers and Tri-City Gems. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins, Cleveland Browns, Cincy Reds, and Duke Basketball.
A special thanks to his cousin Carl Disalvo for everything that he has done to make this a wonderful celebration. Also a special thanks to Becky at the ATA Unit at Miami Valley Hospital and to Dr. Butman and Dr. Shah for all they did.
