Pittman, Bill, age 85, of Beavercreek, OH, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. He was born in Sullivan County, Indiana to the late Harold J. and Rachel (Branson) Pittman. When he was 14, the family sold their farm in western Indiana and moved to Troy, Ohio. Bill was a 1947 graduate of Troy High School and in 1950 graduated from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty (Scott) Pittman and a brother and sister-in-law, Loren H. (Virginia) Pittman. He is survived by his children, Michael (Nancy) Pittman, of Sugarcreek Township, OH, John (Chris) Pittman, of Milford, OH and Jane (Lawrence) Velez, of Houston, TX; loving grandchildren, Paul, Dawn, Abby, Ryan, Keirsten, Garrett, Olivia and Lauren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert E. (Judy) Pittman and 3 nieces and nephews. Bill had a very successful and rewarding professional career. He was President of the Heavy and Highway Division at Danis Industries Corp. His career at Danis spanned 36 years and along with the many talented engineers, superintendents, foremen and trades people grew the division into one of the largest and most respectable highway contractors in the Stare of Ohio and expanded operations into 3 additional states. After retiring at Danis in 1991, he formed Pittman Construction, Inc., involved in residential construction in the Beavercreek and Bellbrook areas. Bill proudly served as President of the Ohio Contractors Association and was a member of the Board of Directors for several years. He served as a Board member of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association and President of the Board of Trustees at Willow Brook Christian Communities in Delaware, OH. Lastly, he served on the Board of Directors of McCarthy -Bush Corp. in Davenport, Iowa. He was member of Belmont Church of Christ for 59 years and served as a Deacon. He was an avid University of Dayton Basketball fan and season ticket holder for over 40 years. The highlight of his personal life was his wife, Betty, his children and their families. Also, the many annual family vacations and the wonderful memories. Dad, your are admired and respected by many and a great role model to your children and all who knew you. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, from the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
