Betty Lou Lewis

Betty Lewis, age 89, of Centerville passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday, September 23, 2023 after spending the day surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Mike McKiernan of Dayton; daughter Ellen Lewis of Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Julie Lewis of Indiana; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lewis, who preceded her in death in 1997. After his passing, Betty filled her life with volunteer work at Kettering and Sycamore Medical Centers, accumulating nearly 20,000 hours of service. She spoke with a sweet voice and soft smile that contradicted the strength of her heart and soul. Betty loved her children fiercely, never missing a chance to talk about their accomplishments. Those who knew her well will never buy an elephant figurine if the trunk isn’t pointing up. Betty will be missed by her family and friends. Private service Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
