Beth Ann had numerous health complications for a long time until her death; she finally passed due to an infection and Multiple System Organ Failure.
She was born to the late Huse and Madge (Lawson) Means on July 15, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio. Beth Ann attended Patterson Kennedy School, Belmont High School, and St. Rita School for the Deaf until 1973.
She married Philip O. Cassese of Cleveland in 1977 and they have been together since.
They lived in Cleveland before relocating to Portland, Maine in 1985. Beth loved Dayton and they moved back to Ohio in 2002.
Beth Ann is survived by two daughters: Lottie Cassese of Columbus, Ohio,(and loving friend Ryan Capron) and Marybeth Cassese- King (Terrence) of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Maddie (17), Taylor (14), Alana (11), Declan (5), and Petula (3), and Philip’s sister Theresa Cassese of Cleveland, and his Brother Frank (CY) Cassese of Arizona.
She is survived by her sister Mary Means-Akerman of Indianapolis, Indiana and half- sister Loretta Means-Lloyd of Huntsville, Tennessee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Last but not at least; her closest friends, Vera Masters, Sharon Applegate, Anne Stoeve- Hoffmann, Diane Luckoski, Kathy Noel- Nunley, and Lynda Center- Lightner.
Beth Ann has worked at various jobs; Homemaker, Residential Advisor, Case Manager, Direct Care, and the most important is being a MOM and GRANDMA, and Sister.
Beth Ann is loved by many friends and the deaf communities, and families.
Beth Ann always opened her arms to provide a warm welcome the students who attended Governor
Baxter School for the Deaf, especially Owen, Billy, Steven, Bryan and many more. Beth Ann and Philip were able to foster more than 13 children during their time in Maine.
Beth Ann did not know how to say NO or hate anyone.
She would always tell her daughters that if they hate someone, they would need to hate Jesus first.
The hate comment has stuck with us always.
Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7; Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Beth Ann always loved everyone, she died on Valentine’s Day, the day of LOVE. She would want you all to remember to love others.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at the Tobias Funeral Home- Far Hills.
Beth Ann’s Celebration of Life service will start at 1 p.m. The burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the David’s Cemetery.
