Passed away September 24, 2020 at her home on the West End of the Spokane Indian Reservation. Norma was born on April 24, 1940 in Nespelem, WA to Harold and Marge Thornburg. Norma grew up in the Republic area and graduated from Republic High School and then went on to Beauty School where she received her cosmetology degree and was a cosmetologist for several years. Norma worked in Gaming Surveillance for 25 years, and just Retired last October. She also had a job in a factory in Oregon for a few years. While we attended St Mary’s Mission in Omak, WA. She also worked for Kaiser Aluminum in the Spokane Valley for years. Then worked as a Surveyor for our tribe for a few years.
Then Gaming opened up, and she began right at the start training & working in our Casino’s.
Norma is a member of the Spokane Tribe of Indian. Norma is survived by her four children LeRoy Denison, Connie Bair, Audrey Carson and LuAnne Denison along with 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He has four half-sisters Gloria Allan, Ramona Sanchez, Georgia Picard and Norma Kay Caratachea along with several nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Burress, three grandsons and on great grandson, one brother Harold Thornburg Jr., and a sister Georgia Thornburg. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the West End Community Center with burial to follow at the Julia Brown Cemetery, Fruitland, WA.
