Marie Helen Goodman

Passed away on December 25, 2020 in Spokane, WA, formerly of Davenport and Wilbur. Marie was born on January 6, 1930 in Wilbur, WA to Michael and Emma Gyorfi. She grew up in Wilbur and attended school graduating from Wilbur High School. She went on to receive her nursing degree from Sacred Heart Medical School of Nursing in 1951 and began a long nursing career. She married Russell Goodman on June 22, 1952 in Wilbur, WA where they lived for several years before Russ’s job had them moved to Anaheim CA, Selah, WA and Spokane. Russ and Marie retired in Davenport, WA and she continued to live there after Russell’s passing in 2003. Marie moved to Spokane about nine years ago to be closer to her family and this is where she lived until her death. Marie was very active in her church where she was a member of the Lutheran Altar Guild along with the Davenport Sewing Club, Red Hat Society and was a Sacred Heart Nursing School Alumnus. Marie loved cultivating house plants and watching Gonzaga basketball. Marie is survived by her two sons Kim Goodman and Jon Goodman and one granddaughter Danica (Ian) Johnson, her sister Leona Gyorfi, several nieces and nephews and their children, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Russell in 2003 along with three brothers Frank, Albert and Martin and two sisters Margaret and Barbara. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Wilbur Cemetery, Wilbur, WA. Please observe the covid 19 restrictions.
