Larry was first introduced to his parents, Pootch & Donna Vincent, on March 5, 1947, in Spokane, WA and decided to follow them home to the family farm North of Creston. He grew up on the farm and attended school in Creston for all twelve years. During the four years of high school, and given the size of Creston, he was pretty much guaranteed a place on the A-squad for football, basketball, and baseball, and lettered in all three sports! He graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1965.
Following graduation, he briefly attended WSU and then SCC working towards his BS in "Joke Telling", eventually earning a Masters in that art! Meanwhile, "back at the ranch", he started dating Mike Flick and they married on July 11, 1969. During their marriage, they welcomed two children, Ryan and Shelbi. Also at this time, he became a weekend warrior with the National Guard, became a member of the Masonic Lodge, worked at the Wilbur Grain Growers, the local fertilizer plant, and finally joined his dad farming. After marrying Sherry Beeler, they moved to the farm. When this marriage dissolved, he was joined by Nada Stewart, and for the past twenty-five years they have farmed together.
Larry truly enjoyed farming, especially when he was able to acquire a tractor and combine with air conditioned cabs! He was an avid reader and often proclaimed that he needed "major input". He was a true MacGyver fabricating unique useful creations! He also enjoyed camping, drag racing, visiting/partying with friends, and never missed watching Jeopardy!
For the past few years, he suffered from COPD and finally lost his battle July 13th. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jeanne Novotney, and daughter-in-law-, Darcy Vincent. He is survived by his significant other, Nada Stewart, his sister, Shirli Miller, brother-in-law, Ted Novotney, his son, Ryan (Osazee) Vincent, daughter, Shelbi (Dave) Hallstrom, step daughters, TIna Erwert, Tami Holiday, Trudi (Hans) Thiering, his grandchildren, Colten, Emilee, Ashlyn, Gracie, Annabelle, Daniel, Alisa, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be at the Sherman Cemetery, 38817 Sherman Rd N. Wilbur, WA on Saturday, July 27t, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Following the service, family and friends are invited to Larry's shop for light refreshments and lots of reminiscing. In lieu of flowers, please come prepared to share stories and jokes! Donations can be made to the Sherman Cemetery of the charity of one's choice.
We will miss you "Sparky"!
