Anita Donohue passed away September 22, 2016 in Spokane, WA. She was born on January 28, 1937, in Nashua, Iowa, to Howard and Flora (Lee) Murphy. Donald “Duke” Waldyn Donohue passed away at his home in Spokane, WA October 21, 2016. He was born May 16, 1932 in Whiting, Indiana to Matthew and Ora (Alfrey) Donohue. Duke and Anita married on July 19, 1957. Duke and Anita were a members of the Davenport Assembly of God; New Life Christian Center, Addy, WA; Cedar Park Assembly of God, Bothell, WA; and First Church of the Open Bible, Spokane, WA. Anita attended Northwest Bible College in Seattle WA as a young woman. They both shared a love of music and family. Anita was part of the "Murphy Sisters" trio and sang on both radio and TV, later singing with the Sweet Adeline’s. Duke served with the US Army in Korea, 1953-1955. Duke played the steel guitar and loved Hawaiian music. Duke and Anita played and sang at played at the Gospel Jamboree for many years. Duke and Anita's greatest joy were their children and grandchildren. They are survived by five children: Patrick Donohue, Julie Loveall (Bruce), Steve Donohue (Laurie), Tammy Bruchman (Burke), Wendy Anderson (Stuart), fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, four great grandchildren, Anita’s brothers: Charles, Tom, and Danny Murphy, and her sister Marlene Murphy, Duke’s brothers: Cal, Ken, Larry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anita is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Willa Rae Evans. Duke is preceded in death by, his parents, and brothers, Matthew, Ron, and Richard and sisters, Lorel, Glo, Wanda, and Lydia Francis. Duke and Anita were both laid to rest at the WA State Veteran’s Cemetery, Medical Lake, Washington. Memorials can be made to St Jude Children Research Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for both will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 @ 11:00 am. New Life Christian Center 1472 Hwy 395, Addy, WA.
