Wanita E. Farnham, 81 of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Trinity, Bettendorf. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Runge Mortuary. A memorial service will be held in the spring in Audubon, IA. Memorials may be made to the family, which will be distributed to the Methodist churches she attended. Online condolence may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Wanita Edwards was born September 19, 1935, in Lewiston, Montana, the daughter of Roy and Gretta (Yager) Edwards. The family came back to Iowa where Nita attended school in Viola Township, near Audubon. She played basketball, was a cheerleader, was active in 4-H and Eastern Star. She married Charles "Chuck" Farnham, the father of her children, in 1954. She later married William Marble. Later in life, she met her special companion, Warren Sampier. Nita and Chuck moved to the Quad Cities area in 1966. She was employed at the U.S. Army Maintenance Command, Rock Island Arsenal. Here she was proud to be selected for the upward mobility training program for women, designed to train and promote women to higher paying jobs. She retired in 1988 as a logistic management specialist with 20 years of service. Nita lived for many years in McCausland, IA. Most recently she lived in DeWitt, IA. She was lifetime member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting and gardening. She is survived by her brothers, Dale Edwards, Audubon, IA and Ronald Edwards, Ankeny, IA; children, Kathy Sampson, DeWitt, Vince Farnham (and his fiancé, Jolene Decker), Camanche, IA and Steve (Kathy) Farnham, Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Eric Farnham, Memphis, TN, Audrey Farnham, Lincoln, NE, Jennifer Sampson, Low Moor, IA and Matt (Deidra) Farnham, Phoenix, AZ and a great grandchild, Quentin Farnham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, William, Roydon and Gale.
