Viola Kathryn Gray

Viola K. Gray, 95, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 7 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Inurnment will be in St. Francis Catholic Church Cemetery, Hazel Green, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Viola was born February 22, 1920 in Mason City, IA the daughter of George and Mary Denlinger. She was united in marriage to Gordon L. Gray on May 12, 1940. He passed away December 24, 1967.

At the age of seven, Viola moved to Zwingle, IA and later graduated from the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, IA with a teaching degree. She and her husband, Gordon, lived in Rock Island and later moved back to Wisconsin to own and operate a dairy farm.

She is survived by her sons: Robert (Judy), Tom (Lori), Ronnie (Denise) Gray; daughter Jean Buck; granddaughters: Brandy Johnson, Anna, Amber, Cammie Gray, Dawn Edmonds; grandsons: Brian Buck, Kim and Adam Gray; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Donnie, brother Virgil Denlinger and sister Maxine Edwards.
