Thomas A. Riggs

Funeral services for Thomas A. Riggs, 67, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Riggs died on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness.Thomas Alan Riggs was born on November 22, 1945 in Columbia, MO, the son of George and Christine (Skiles) Riggs. On June 24, 1967 he married Charlotte K. Cook in Davenport. He worked as a mechanic the Riverdale ALCOA Works for 30 years retiring in 2009.Tom was a member of Union Local 105 and a member of NSRA for over 25 years. He enjoyed bowling and NASCAR, and especially enjoyed building street rods. He was a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and in earlier years built and drove stock cars in the mid-west circuits.Surviving members of the family include – his wife of 46 years, Charlotte; a Daughter: Nora (Todd) Nelson of Joy, IL; a Son: Thomas Jr. (Sara) Riggs of Blue Grass, IA; 2 Brothers: William Riggs of Columbia, MO, and Terry Riggs of Washington State; 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.Memorial may be made to the family.
