Thomas “Tom” F. Baumer, 75, of Davenport passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society after a brief illness. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A family led celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society and the Humane Society. Tom was born April 25, 1941 in La Crosse, WI to Julius and Virginia (Bennington) Baumer. Tom married Carol J. Barton on February 20, 1960 in Davenport, IA. Tom began his working career at Wonder Bread Co, Davenport, as a foreman. He attended Scott Community College where he earned a degree as a machinist. Tom worked twenty-four years at Kartidg Pak as a machinist, retiring in 1994.
Tom was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan. His life long dream was fulfilled when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. He coach East Davenport Pony League for many years. Tom also enjoyed woodworking, listening to country western music and playing Farmville on his computer.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Carol; children: Barry (Goldie) Baumer, Davenport, Terry (Kelly) Baumer, Davenport , Linda (Dave) Scofield, Peosta, IA, Thomas N. Baumer, Davenport, Gary Baumer, Grand Rapids, MI; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way and two brothers, Patrick and Julius.
In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and James.
