Thomas W. Ahrens

Thomas W. Ahrens, 67, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 19, 2015, in the comfort of his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 12:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. He was born July 19, 1947 in Davenport; the son of Harold and Marjorie (Heritage) Ahrens. He was united in marriage to Susan Fisher on November 14, 1980 in Davenport. Tom retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after 25 years of service. He loved stock-car racing, camping and was an avid Cubs fan. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Davenport VFW Post #828. Those honoring his life include his loving wife of 34 years, Sue; children: Chris (Lois) Benware; Julie (Brent) Stark; Shilo (Tony) Pates; Tom (Colleen) Ahrens, II and Andrea Ahrens; 18 grandchildren; brothers: Danny, David and Dennis Ahrens and Arthur Carle and sisters: Dee Ahrens and Ronda Guinn. His parents preceded him in death.
