Terry Robert Underwood

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at New Life Baptist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary on Friday, January 31, 2020. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.

Terry was born on November 25, 1946 to Ralph and Ruth (Chesnut) Underwood in Davenport, IA. He was united in marriage to Sherrie Holmes on June 25, 1977 in Rock Island, IL. He worked for many years as a steel worker at North Star Steel Iowa, retiring in 1998.

Terry was a family oriented man and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren playing catch and wrestling around. He loved being outdoors, going boating, and having a beautifully maintained lawn and providing that for others. He also played softball for many years and was a traditional country music fanatic.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Sherrie Underwood; children, Cherine Buerklin, Shane (Mel) Underwood, and Brandon (Cari) Underwood; brothers, Jack (Gloria) Underwood and Steve (Carla) Underwood; sister, Connie (Greg) Richards; grandchildren: Becca, Andrew, Meagan, Hannah, Cody, Lexi, Chase, and Rylan; and great grandchildren: Raelee, Emory, and Liam James.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Underwood.
