Ted S Baker

Ted S. Baker, 87, of Davenport, Iowa passed away peacefully, Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Clarissa C Cook Hospice House with his beloved family by his side. A visitation to celebrate Ted’s life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 1 – 3pm at Weerts Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.

Ted was born on May 30, 1936 in Krakow, Poland to Richard and Maria Beczka. At the young age of 14, Ted immigrated to the United States with the help of the Catholic Church Charities. He then moved from New York to Davenport, Iowa. Ted met Carole Knaack in Davenport and they married on November 11, 1961 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Ted was stationed in Korea while serving for the United States Army from 1958 – 1960. Ted attended Palmer Junior College and then worked at The Quad Cities Times for many years. He then went on to be a receiving clerk for Wonder Bread. After 25 years at Wonder Bread, Ted retired. He greatly enjoyed watching old John Wayne and other western movies.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 62 years, Carole; their sons Theodore, Thomas (Connie), William (Stephanie), and James; and four beloved grandchildren Emily, Kate, Spencer, and Sydney.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Irving, and his two older sisters.
