Steve was born March 23, 1952 in Davenport. He was the son of Charles Henry and Phyllis Jane (Ehlers) Hawkins. He worked as an Assistant Manager for Eagle Foods at the Davenport location and later worked as the Operations Manager for over 25 years at the I80 Truck Stop in Walcott where he was dearly loved.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs, BlackHawks and Dallas Cowboys fan. He greatly enjoyed his fishing trips with his beloved daughter Nicole to Ontario, Canada where they stayed at the Ghost River Lodges. He also loved hunting, especially turkey, boar and deer. When Nicole was younger, her dad coached her in soccer and softball and was always there to cheer her on throughout her high school career as well. He enjoyed traveling to Colorado when he could. Steven enjoyed his Michelob Ultra and listening to 60’s and 70’s music and was very close to his brother, Chuck who passed away in the 1990’s.
Those left to celebrate his life include his daughter, Nicole, Lakewood, CO, brother, Denny, nephew, “Chuckie” Hawkins, III, sister-in-law, Doris “Duty” Hawkins, his beloved dog, Shiloh, hunting buddies, Danny Carzoli and Kami Hosseinian and a host of other dear friends.
