Shirley M. Crews, 89, of Davenport, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel with visitation held from 9 a.m. until service time. She will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport. Online tributes and condolences may be made at www.therungemortuary.com. Shirley was born July 9, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa to Elmer and Annie (Thomas) Carpenter. She married Robert W. Crews on July 26, 1952.
Shirley retired in 1991 from the Davenport Schools cafeteria, after working her way up to manager of the cafeteria at Smart Junior High. She enjoyed many years of camping and fishing at their home away from home in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. She also enjoyed shopping, watching the Cubs, spoiling her grandchildren , and family gatherings during the holidays. Shirley was a long time member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son Mike (Lisa) Crews, Davenport; daughter, Mary Ann (Tom) Laake, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Andrea (Bill) Wombacher, Danielle (Adam) Seitz, and Kyle Crews; great grandson, Liam Wombacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and her parents Elmer and Annie Carpenter.
