Sheila Jayne Thorberg

Sheila Jayne Thorberg, 74, of Davenport passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society following a struggle with long term dialysis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Sheila was born and raised in Des Moines, IA the daughter of Jay McKinstry and Elfrieda (Hertle) McHaffie, step father, Hartley McHaffie. After graduating from North High School in Des Moines in 1961, she attended Dana College, graduating in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Secondary Education. She met her husband, Myron Thorberg, at college and they were married in 1964. The spent time living in Omaha, NE; Storm Lake, IA and currently resided in Davenport, IA. She enjoyed vacations on Leech Lake and Lake Okoboji. Her favorite activities were long car rides, boat rides, cooking, playing cards/games, doing puzzle books and reading. She was also quite a prankster! She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Myron; son, Eric (Megan) Thorberg; daughter, Kristie (Charlie) Roberts; three grandchildren: Jadelyn Roberts, Otto and Oscar Thorberg. Sheila was preceded in death by Jay McKinstry, Hartley McHaffie, Elfrieda McHaffie, sister, Sharon McCain and we are blessed by her memory.
