Funeral services will be held Thursday April 24, 2025, at 12:00pm at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Visitation will be held 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Sandy will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Kings Harvest Pet Rescue in Sandy’s name. Sandy was born on October 17, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa to Rollin and Violet (Peden) Kirkpatrick. On April 24, 1965, she was united in marriage to Michael J. Smith. They have enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Sandy enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery, baking and watching her outdoor animals. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling to watch Mike drive his race cars and family outings. While she loved all those things, she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband; children, Julie (David) Thompson, Brian (Kerry) Smith; siblings, Roger (Janet) Kirkpatrick, Ardis Rettler; brother-in-law, Lester (Carol) Leonard; 3 grand-kitties and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jerome Rettler.
