Sally J. Grueber

Sally J. Grueber, 80, of Davenport passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, February 26, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County. Sally was born April 19, 1934 in Davenport, the daughter of Elmer and Martha (Wanke) Schlueter. On January 26, 1958 she married Gerald D. Grueber in Davenport. She was first employed by Oscar Mayer and later by the Davenport Police Department, retiring in 1998 following twenty-five years of service.

Her memberships included Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport and the Oscarettes. She enjoyed her twice yearly trip to the beach in North Carolina. Most importantly, she loved her granddaughters and shopping for bargains for them. Every conversation with her daughter started with “What are the girls doing?”

Survivors include her husband Jerry; children Martin Grueber and Susan (Charles) Stanger and two granddaughters Isabel and Sydney Stanger.
