Royce Reed, 79, of Davenport joined his loving wife Cindy on Thursday, February 4, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 12, 2021 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Honor Flight of The Quad Cities. Online tributes and condolences may be made at www.therungemortuary.com.
Royce was born a son of Leva and Verna (Hicks) Reed June 20, 1941 in Cold Springs, Missouri. He served proudly in The U.S. Army from December 12, 1963 to December 10, 1965. Royce was united in marriage to Cindy Heckerman May 21, 1966 in Davenport, Iowa, she passed away February 18, 2001.
Royce retired from Oscar Mayer on December 1, 1997 after beginning his employment on May 22, 1962. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, playing music, cooking, baking, yardwork, and gardening.
He enjoyed telling stories and vacationing with family and friends. Royce was a grandpa figure to many and loved attending any and all of his grandchildren’s activities. He wanted everyone to know he was put here on earth to love everyone whom he crossed paths with.
Those missing him dearly include his daughter Dawn (Bill) Wailand; grandchildren, Ashley Wailand and Aaron Wailand; sister Nova (George) Yeary; nephew, Jeff Cowley and his niece, Holly Modica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Cindy and his sister Carolyn Cowley.
