Ronald “Ron” K. Morrison Sr., 80, of Blue Grass, IA, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society in Davenport, IA. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Inurnment will take place at Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. Ron was born October 2, 1940, to Robert and Naomi (Schroeder) Morrison in Davenport, IA. On January 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Julia Heyveart in Rock Island, IL. Together they raised Tammy, Ronald Jr., and Gary in Blue Grass. Ron worked for Schott & Welch Masonry as a brick layer for 40 years. He proudly served his community as a volunteer Firefighter for 25 years, eventually becoming Captain for the Blue Grass Fire Department. Ron enjoyed helping family with home improvement projects, taking care of his yard, and doing crossword puzzles. He volunteered for masonry projects in his community, adding onto the Blue Grass Fire Department and working on the “Welcome to Blue Grass” sign. One of his most notable projects was building the pergola at the Vanderveer Park Rose Garden.
Ron will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Julia; children: Tammy Beatty, Ronald (Tina) Morrison Jr., and Gary (Ronda) Morrison; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers: Joe (Sharon) Morrison and David Stoffers; and two sisters: Peggy (Bruce) Stineman and Donna Wiese. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Morrison and Naomi Rose.
