Robert ‘Sweetpea’ Lawrence Marshall was born to the late Willie Huges and Catherine Sapp Marshall in Rock Island Illinois. Robert confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, Illinois. Robert graduated from Rock Island High School and joined the workforce shortly after.
Robert later made East Palo Alto, California his home for more than 20 years and during that time he met his wife Alnette Goodwill. Robert worked as a general contractor where he enjoyed working on homes, building fences, and doing anything that involved his hands. In 2011 Robert moved back to Davenport, Iowa and married his wife Alnette soon after on December 31st, 2012.
Robert's last place of employment was working at a group home through REM, where he worked with children and adults with disabilities. Once he retired he was able to enjoy his hobbies that included; playing cards, traveling, watching sports, being a grill master and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
God called him home on October 28th, 2019. He is preceded in death by his mother; Catherine Sapp Marshall, Father; Willie Huges, Bonus Father; Harold Eugene Marshall, Sister; Aurelia 'Gina' Lee, Nephew; Brian Marshall, Aunt; Carolyn 'Mickey' Lee, and Aunt; Palenstine McWilliams.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and caring wife; Alnette Goodwill-Marshall, daughters; La'Shieka (Dominick) White, Maryland Heights, MO, Mikaela (Emmanuel) Campbell, North Liberty, IA, son; Robert Alex Marshall, Davenport IA, stepsons Jabari (Angela) Goodwin, Davenport, IA, Danny (Marshawna) Sparks, Pittsburg, CA, stepdaughter Tamara (Mary) Baker, Oakland, CA. Grandchildren; Edmund Lee, Aidyn & Brooklynn White, Jamal Marshall, Jahnai, Jaymi, Jayda, Aysia, Jabari & Amiyah Goodwin, Royalty & Malaysia Baker. Loving brothers Derrick (Betty) Robinson, Jacques Robinson of Davenport, IA, sister DeAndra Gates Waterloo, IA, sister-in-law; Nancy Goodwill, New Ibira, LA, brother-in-laws; Sherman Goodwill, Palo Alto, CA, Billy A. Ray Julin, East Palo Alto, CA. Special cousin Marie Raspberry of Cedar Rapids IA, a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, god-children and friends.
