Robert Wesley Harker, [Rob], of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was 47 and had been valiantly living with cancer since 2015. A Celebration of his Life will be held from Noon to 3 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at The Carriage Haus, 312 W 3rd St, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to Genesis Community Hospice who tended Rob with compassionate care.
Robert was born in 1971, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Lee and Anne (Slemmons) Harker. He grew up in Iowa City and San Mateo, CA. Rob graduated from West High School in Iowa City and was a Phi Kappa Psi at The University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1994. He moved to San Francisco, CA, where he worked in computer services and commercial property management for more than a decade. Rob returned to Iowa in 2008, where he worked in commercial real estate and then as a residential Real Estate broker with the Mel Foster Company.
Rob loved an active life, biking, hiking, playing soccer and traveling. He avidly followed baseball, football, basketball and particularly ice hockey, and enjoyed watching any game alongside his loyal dog, Lucky. He had an instinct and skill for many things, from cooking to woodworking, and was always ready to serve a wonderful meal or help others with projects both large and small. But most of all, Rob was a kind, generous, and entertaining man, who dearly loved and enjoyed his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Lee and Jill Harker of Omaha, NE, Anne and Paul Carella of San Francisco, CA, his daughter Devin Carver of Los Angeles, CA, his sister Elizabeth (Andy) Axel and nieces Katy and Emily of Davenport, IA, his sister Alexandra Gillespie of Iowa City, IA, and his beloved Joy Williams and her children Alexis, Jake and Luke of Bettendorf, IA, as well as many extended family. May his memory be a blessing.
“All the life he lived cannot be undone.”
