Robert J. Essex

Robert J. Essex, 86, of Davenport passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Davenport. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Vineyard Church, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family.

Robert was born on February 20, 1931 in Muscatine, IA the son of Sherwood and Anna (Bennett) Essex. He was united in marriage to Janet L. Wailes on May 16, 1958 in Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2012.

Robert was a strong, hardworking man. Family and God were most important to him. He was a wonderful father and will be deeply missed by all.

Those left to honor his memory include his children: Robert C. Essex, Ronald (Mindy) Essex, and Robin (David) Crouch, all of Davenport, and Patricia Glaudel, CA; brother, Leonard Essex, Davenport; sister, Charlene White, TX; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonya Boyd and four grandsons.
