Robert W. Broughton Sr.

Robert W. Broughton, Sr., 88, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.

Mr. Broughton was born February 4, 1924 in Mystic, Iowa, a son of Harry and Eva (Bradwell) Broughton. On September 27, 1945 he married Betty Keckler in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was employed as a roofer prior to his retirement.

Survivors include children Robert (Judy) Broughton, Jr. of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Michelle (Jeff) Higdon of Fairfield, Iowa, and Don Broughton of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; a brother Jack Broughton of Davenport; sisters, Martha Negus of Buffalo and Rosella “Dutch” Broughton of Davenport; and his fiancée Donna McWilliams of Rock Island.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, Henry Clay Broughton and siblings: Charlotte, Donny, George, Laura, and Ted.
