Ricky Allan Piatt

Ricky “Rick” A. Piatt, 65, of Davenport, IA passed away on October 26, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Rick was born on August 23, 1957 in Davenport, IA to Eugene and Dorothea (Wiese) Piatt. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1975. He married Lori (Helmold) Gares on February 18, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2020. Rick managed Bud’s Body Shop for over 20 years. He is the owner of Rick’s Wreck Repair. One of his most proud accomplishments was his large family and especially his grandchildren. Rick was a collector of beer memorabilia. He also was a tomato connoisseur making all things tomatoes, from chili, salsa and spaghetti sauce. Rick also enjoyed being a Bix Race Volunteer where he operated the Brady Street water station for over 20 years. Rick was a true family man.

Rick is survived by his children, Nikki Piatt, Derrick (Cari) Piatt, Angela Timper, Amy Gares and Eric (Alyssa) Gares; seventeen grandchildren and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lori; son, Ryan Piatt, one sister DeEtta and three brothers, Wayne, Terry and Dean.
